OPC Expert enables users to connect to an OPC server and export all items after browsing and without subscribing to any items. This prevents OPC servers from being overloaded due to unnecessary item subscriptions. This procedure is applicable to both OPC UA and OPC DA servers. Follow the procedure below:
- Connect to OPC UA or OPC DA server (there is no need to browse said OPC server).
- Right-click OPC server, select option "Export", and select applicable option:
- Only items previously browsed: Exports all items already found in previous browses (this option does not start a new browse)
- Deep Browse all subfolders and export all items: Browses all subfolders (and their respective subfolders), and discovers all items
- Deep Browse all subfolders and items and export all items: Browses all subfolders (and their respective subfolders), as well as all items, and discovers all items and sub-items
- In dialog box "Export Items”, select necessary attributes to save and click button "Save"
After completing above, OPC Expert creates a CSV containing information on all browsed items without ever subscribing to any of these items, and without adding these items to OPC Expert’s browse tree, which saves time and system resources. Users can now use this file to review all items.
