OPC UA Alarms and Conditions (A&C) define how alarm states are modeled and communicated as events rather than simple data points. This session explains how A&C works at a protocol level, including event structures, condition states, acknowledgements, and subscriptions. We will focus on how clients receive and process alarm events, and where implementations commonly break down—such as missed events, incorrect state handling, or unreliable subscriptions.

Using OPC Expert, we will demonstrate how to connect to OPC UA servers, subscribe to alarm events, and inspect condition behavior in real time. You will see how to validate alarm configurations, troubleshoot issues without relying on SCADA or HMI layers, and understand what the server is actually sending. The goal is to give you a clear, working understanding of OPC UA A&C so you can diagnose and verify alarm behavior in real systems.
